Silver Jewelry

Mini Blobular Ring
Blobular ring is a continuation of my jewelry and casting exploration. I went with a design loosely based off of my Blobular Mirror.

Process
  • Carve in machinable wax
  • Sprue onto tree
  • Pour investment
  • Burn out wax
  • Pour silver
  • Sand and finish

Silver Clay Pendants
I heard of this magical clay and needed to try it out! When you fire it, it burns away the binding compounds, leaving behind pure silver to be polished! These are a couple pendants and findings that I will be place on jewelry cord.

Process
  • Mold and carve clay
  • Let dry overnight
  • Fire clay (10% shrinkage!)
  • Sanding and finishing

Piercing
I am in the process of creating a necklace and earring set by piercing sheet silver with a jeweler’s saw.

Process
  • Draw design onto silver
  • Create pilot holes using dremel
  • Pierce with jeweler’s saw
  • Clean up edges
  • Solder on findings
  • Sanding and finishing

Confusion Pendant [in progress]
This pendant is a tangible abstraction of confusion.

Process
  • Carve in machinable wax
  • Sprue onto tree
  • Pour investment
  • Burn out wax
  • Pour silver
  • Sand and finish

N Pendant Toggle Necklace
This monogram pendant experiments with weight, texture and brings a focal point to the toggle closure mechanism. It features 2 charms - a lightning bolt (hand carved in wax) and a star (3D modeled and printed in wax).

Process
  • 3D model in Fusion 360
  • 3D print in PLA to test size
  • 3D print in wax
  • Sprue onto tree
  • Pour investment
  • Burn out wax
  • Pour silver
  • Sand and finish
  • Solder components onto chain with jump rings
  • Sand and finish to completion
