Drip Table
A cream bedside table with dripping features and aluminum hardware. The perpendicularity of the legs highlights the organic shapes and creates a sense of imbalance. Tables, and furniture more generally, are sturdy and solid. I played with shape to challenge that visual perception. And the hardware, though dripping and puddling, reinforce its structural integrity and stability.
The table legs were routed on the wood CNC and the brackets and feet were machined on the Haas CNC, allowing me to achieve the curvature and contours.
This project forced me to not settle for a design and to continuously explore ideas until I could no longer afford to (due to time restraints). My idea for the project changed day-to-day, moving in a more exciting direction. I found prototyping ideas through mini cardboard mockettes to be helpful when considering concepts and rapid modeling in CAD to be helpful when exploring form. I am grateful for that and will continue to embrace lateral thinking moving forward!
