Bicycle Add-On
After witnessing and first-handedly experiencing the struggle of trying to use your phone and transporting a beverage while riding a bike, I challenged myself to design an add-on that would alleviate these problems.
I started defining the criteria I wanted my product to meet. This included aspects regarding size, durability, functionality, safety, and more. After establishing those specifications, I brainstormed different visuals, exploring every possibility of what shape this product could take, where it could be placed on the bike, and more. After deciding on the idea that excited me most design- and functionality-wise, I went to CAD and began sketching, building, and assembling the pieces. Take a look at my detailed design and process below! The overall design is a handlebar attachment with an adjustable phone and cup holder.
Although it’s still a CAD model, I hope to be able to physically realize this product one day! It was a great exercise to balance design and engineering.
